Train blasts accused allowed to attend mother’s last rites

The special MCOCA court yesterday allowed Dr Tanvir Ansari, an accused in July 11 Mumbai serial train blasts case to attend his mother’s last rites last evening. Ansari was allowed to go the Byculla burial ground at 5 pm.

He had applied for temporary bail for meeting his ailing mother, Shamsunnisa Ansari, yesterday, but before there could be any argument on the application, she died this afternoon.

Suffering from severe bout of malaria, she was hospitalised in Sabu Siddiqui hospital.

Ansari, charged with being party to the 7/11 blasts conspiracy and having received arms training in Pakistan, worked at the same hospital.
