Assessment of engineering exam papers came to a halt as faculty members boycotted the central assessment programme (CAP) of the University of Mumbai on Tuesday, alleging that the varsity had not provided them with basic amenities like water, tea and chairs.About 150 examiners had approached the pro vice-chancellor A D Sawant and controller of examinations with their demands.
However, Sawant did not give them a hearing, alleged the faculty, and they hence took the step. The examiners said officials had not even given them any answer papers to assess for three days.
Faculty members were also upset that about three days ago, several senior teachers, whose appointment had not been approved by the university, were not permitted to participate in the CAP.
The irony is that these faculty members have been involved in the assessment process for almost 10 years. http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/Cities/Mumbai/Engg_papers_assessment_stalled/articleshow/2118387.cms
