Cricket World Cup 2007

The West Indies, one of the most vibrant regions in the cricketing world and home to some of the most enthusiastic and colorful of cricket fans is hosting this year’s ICC Cricket World Cup 2007. Cricket in the Caribbean is not only a game but a way of life and a game of cricket is not simply a match but a spectacle to watch both on the field and in the stands, what with the sound of drum beats, the rhythm of Calypso music and the cheering of frenzied fans.

The West Indian islands and the joy de vivre of the Caribbean provides the ideal setting for this more-than-a-month-long cricketing extravaganza which would see the best teams in one-day cricket battle it out for the coveted title.
The Cricket World Cup 2007 will feature, besides the host West Indies, the teams of Australia, England, India, New Zealand, Pakistan, South Africa, Sri Lanka, Zimbabwe, Bangladesh, Kenya, Canada, Scotland, Ireland, Bermuda and The Netherlands.

Defending Champions Australia start as favorites in the 2007 World Cup Cricket that is being held in 12 world-class stadiums across 8 Caribbean island nations including Antigua and Barbuda, Barbados, Grenada, Jamaica, St Kitts & Nevis, Saint Lucia, St. Vincent and the Grenadines and Trinidad and Tobago, and the South American country of Guyana. Other teams who would also be forces to reckon with are South Africa, India, Pakistan, England, Sri Lanka and of course the hosts West Indies.Millions of fans across the globe will view the matches live on TV screens and several thousands are expected to visit the West Indies islands to watch their favorite players perform. The greatest cricketing show on earth begins with a glittering opening ceremony in the Caribbean Island-nation of Jamaica on the 11th of March 2007.
