About the Consulate The American Consulate General in Mumbai is located in a building that was originally called Wankaner Palace, built in 1938 by the Maharaja of Wankaner. The Consulate building is situated on the Breach Candy seaface. The Consulate is headed by the Consul General and has a Consular Section, an economic/political section and an administrative office. The Public Affairs Office is situated in the commercial heart of the city. The U.S. Commercial Service and the United States Educational Foundation in India are co-located in the Public Affairs Office.
